![]() ![]() ![]() This is (hopefully!) a good guide to consult if you’re totally stuck and don’t have any idea at all where to go next or what to do. It also gives advice for using each game-critical upgrade, as well as advice for a few other things, though the advice is usually covered up by spoiler tags. With these areas come random encounters along with items that are worthy of. It’s not a step-by-step guide telling you exactly what you’ll encounter in terms of enemies, traps, and obstacles (though I give some vague advice on that sort of thing in the “General Info and Advice” section). Not every location on the world map is worthy of earning the title of a. Nor does it tell you where all the optional stuff is, you’ll mostly need to sniff that out yourself. There are a few rare places where I couldn’t help myself and mention upgrades that aren’t strictly necessary to progress in the game. In these cases I cover the offending nonessential material with spoiler tags. Throughout the guide, I usually use the in-game names for upgrades. This deliberately obscures what the upgrade actually does, so you won't spoil yourself at a glance. When there's a plainer title, I use spoiler tags to hide it. This game refers to most upgrades as “Arms” from now on I’ll be using the same terminology in this guide. Apocalypse flasks and health pickups do not count as Arms. Make sure to use the “Set Reminder” function on your map screen to mark places of interest that you can’t yet do anything with. Obviously it’s up to you how you use it, but do use it, it’s there to help, and you can set as many reminder marks as you want. ![]() Like many metroidvanias, the map is divided up into regions, and those regions are divided up into little sections (screens) with entrances and exits between them. Exits from a section look like slightly darker “breaks” in the colored section border. There are no “secret” exits in this game! That’s right, if it’s possible to leave a section by walking (or falling) into the edge of the screen, you’ll see the exit on the map, period. Don’t worry, this game has plenty of other ways to confuse and confound you than that. I found Axiom Verge 2 to be a little more linear than most metroidvanias, but the usual advice still applies: poke around in every nook and cranny when you can, and of course come back to revisit old areas after you’ve gotten a few new Arms. It should be noted that collecting health nodes improves your permanent max health, so it is certainly worth investing that time if you're struggling to get through a horde of enemies. On that note: in many metroidvanias, the usual procedure is to obliterate every enemy in an area while doing a full investigation of everything in sight. These health nodes are harder to access and require some clever finagling to get them. The nodes in the list below are in the Breach, which can only be accessed once you have the drone. 38, 7 (Teleport back from Snowy Breach area). The following list of health nodes is available in the overworld (outside of the breach or special areas). However, this means you can be a part of this guide! If you have found a health node that isn't listed, feel free to add it in the comments below! All Health Nodes Location Overworld You can try your luck in retail stores but will likely have to resort to ebay or the like. Unfortunately, with the limited knowledge available for this game, we have to add to this list as we or other players find them. Axiom Verge had physical versions for Switch, PS4, Vita, and Wii U, though most of those are sold out/gone by now. The primary difference between the large Health Nodes and the small Health Nodes listed above is that you must collect five small Health Nodes to have the same effect as collecting one large Health Node. Check out the list below and be sure to check off the ones you have so you can upgrade your character to her maximum potential! To make things easier for our readers, we have a collection of every Health Node we have found in the game and where players can find them. This means, of course, that there are plenty of things to find and players can upgrade their character through the agonizing process of looking for health nodes. Axiom Verge 2 is a popular indie game that has been labeled as a Metroidvania title. ![]()
